Heading up to Taiping (again) to visit RIVERSTONE

NEXTINSIGHT and four analysts will be travelling tomorrow to check out the new factory under phase 3 of Riverstone Holdings' capacity expansion in Taiping.

(Map: Google)The leading glove manufacturer has a production capacity expansion plan of adding a billion gloves each year. Its gloves are used by healthcare workers and workers in IT cleanrooms around the world.

Phase 3 raises the Singapore-listed company's total capacity to 6.2 billion gloves a year.

We hope to learn more about the manufacturing processes in the latest factory, which incorporates extensive automation to improve productivity.

We will fly from Singapore to Penang and then catch a 1.5-hour coach ride to Taiping, the second largest town in the state of Perak after Ipoh.

Aside from Taiping, Riverstone has facilities also in Selangor, Thailand, and China.

It has commenced the construction of phase 4 of its expansion plan, which will increase its production capacity from 6.2 billion gloves as at December 2016 to 7.2 billion gloves by December 2017.
