Can retire at 50 and work 2-3 days a week?
READER: MY WIFE AND I don’t have children and we live in a HDB flat, don’t own a car, and are conservative in our lifestyle. We hardly invest in stocks, and accumulate savings in the bank's fixed deposit accounts.
We hope to retire at 50 on savings of $2-3 million. We don’t plan to stop working completely after 50, but will work two or three days a week. Is this possble?

TIME WATCH INVESTMENTS couldn’t meet a profit threshold of the Hong Kong stock exchange, so it came to Singapore in 2005.
But now that it can, it is determined to have its shares traded there for a much higher valuation, according to The Edge in a report this week.

SHIPBUILDING AND CHARTERING are capital-intensive, but Otto Marine has no lack of ship financing.
Two tycoons are funding its plans to widen its scope of marine & offshore vessels.
Analysts were already taking a second look at the leading platform support vessel builder when the market was rife with rumors that Otto Marine is "supported" by heavy weight investors.
This evening, it announced that Mr Tan Boy Tee and Mr Tan Kim Seng were among the investors in its recent placement of S$95 million. Read more here.

THIS IS No. 2, Watten Estate, the sprawling home of Singapore’s richest man, Ng Teng Fong, who had a net worth of US$8 billion. He died yesterday at 82, from a cerebral haemorrhage 10 days ago. The wake is held in his mansion, and his funeral will be this Saturday.

DBS Vickers has a 'Buy' call on Broadway, which is releasing its results on 23 Feb.
HDD COMPONENT makers Broadway and MAP Technology are releasing their FY09 results this month.
Analysts are expecting HDD component makers to post positive earnings surprises, due to the strong PC shipment recovery in 4Q last year.
DBS Vickers has a ‘Buy’ call on Broadway, with a target price of S$1.28 (last closing price: 77 cents). Read about the sector trend here.
